Which Is Right?
Most people will brush their teeth before flossing. The main argument for this method is that brushing first loosens more plaque on the teeth. Afterward, flossing can pick up anything leftover while wedging fluoride from toothpaste into the gums, making a stronger impact on oral health.
According to a study in 2018, however, this is not the correct order in which to care for your teeth. The study shows that flossing first helps remove hard-to-reach plaque, allowing the fluoride from toothpaste to reach the right places better and quicker.

Does It Really Matter?
Brushing often takes precedence when people teach their children about the importance of dental hygiene, and flossing tends to be considered secondary. In reality, your teeth should stay clean regardless of the order in which you brush and floss so long as you perform both regularly.
