Recently on May 7th, the Ozark Empire Fair Grounds became a place of hope for many area residents as thousands of volunteers across the area (including current Parkcrest Dental Group doctors: Stuart Scott, Steven Sponenberg, former Parkcrest Doctor Stanley Hall, several Parkcrest hygienists, and dental and business assistants) volunteered with Convoy of Hope to be part of an amazing day to give back help and hope to the Springfield community. The day also provided a fun atmosphere for children with bounce houses, free hot dogs, and carnival-like games. There was some much needed help given to families in the form of 70,000 pounds of free groceries, various health services and screenings, haircuts, job location services, free dental extraction clinic, and other needed services for those facing major struggles in getting even basic needs provided for.
This event was one of the first of this type for the area, and its massive scale was designed to be able to serve an estimated 10,000 people, having over 2,000 volunteers organized by the he incredible not for profit organization Convoy of Hope. The day was co-sponsored by the City of Springfield and supported by a variety of organizations in the Springfield community. As part of this amazing undertaking, Parkcrest employees were honored to be able to serve the community (along with people from many other dental offices) by providing a free dental extraction clinic, volunteering hours to provide dental care for those needing help with necessary dental extractions. It was incredible to see the community come out on such a wide scale to donate time and resources to combat poverty in our area and support such a worth-while event! One of the most rewarding things we felt that day was being able to provide great dental services and see people actually come out smiling after being treated, knowing they were not going to have to be in pain any longer from a tooth that had been bothering them due to decay or fracture.
It is a privilege being part of the Springfield community we care about, and we were honored to volunteer along-side so many other Springfield and surrounding area residents helping to make a positive impact in the community that we all love so much!
